The mission of BNTM
Created in 1992 by the CTI/NE foundation (Integrated Tourism Commission of the Northeast Foundation), the BNTM aims to bring together the national tourist industry players (hotels, travel agents, tourism operators and air carriers) and the international tourism companies. The goal is to generate sales meetings for the Brazilian tourist products, aiming to increase the flow of tourists in the Northeastern region, the national destination with the highest number of incoming tourists from Europe and Latin America. That is how the BNTM directly contributes with the creation of jobs, investments and the improvement of income and quality of life.
Final Results of the BNTM 2008
The 17th edition of the BNTM had a business volume of US$ 182 million, showing its importance within the tourist calendar in the Brazilian northeast. More professional and focused on business rounds, the BNTM (Brazil National Tourism Mart), carried out in Salvador (BA), showed a result 30% higher than in 2007. The balance shows that 420 buyers registered themselves to know about the tourist offers of 226 suppliers. The Secretary of Tourism of Camocim, Ms. Flor de Liz Romeiro, presented the tourist potential of its county to buyers from countries like Argentina, Chile, Italy, Norway, and others.
BNTM 2009 will be held in CEARÁ.
Fortaleza is already preparing to receive buyers, suppliers and the tourism media during the 2009 edition. The capital city of Ceará has a lot to offer, according to Mr. Bismarck Maia, the State Tourism Secretary. He said that it is not enough to host the country´s biggest tourist business meeting. We must also be well aware of the participants´ expectations. “We will make a clear analysis of what the buyers are looking for when visiting the BNTM. On the other side, we also want to know which priority markets each particular Brazilian destination is aiming to and what are they going to present.” The Secretary said that, working together with CTI/NE, the goal is to innovate and make the event as professionally as possible.
